i thought i knew myself by mbielaczyc i thought i knew myself by mbielaczyc
this is two oil paintings in a digital representation of the wooden frame they are in. i painted these and built the frame a a representation of the struggle in most people between our primitive emotions and our more spiritual side. the final piece is 4'x3.5'

Very beautiful paintings and (if the digital representation of the frame is accurate) it compliments the imagery very well.

The follow is just my opinionů

I like how you have included wings in both sides of the painting. To me it means that spiritual growth is a potential in everyday emotions and not just during times of spiritual potency. The emotive side also feels very heavy which is something that I can definitely relate to. I like the spiritual side represented in flight through water (bubbles?). Water for me has for a long time now represented the unconscious (the darker the better!) and from this material comes spiritual insight.

Sorry for waffling but this piece brought forward some personal connection...

thanks for the thoughts! i to see wings as a symbol for growth, or maybe more for aspiration for a greater being, to try and reach for something just out of grip. i made this piece while trying to find my own balance between the sides. i found out as i worked though that we are beings of constant change, so i can look back along my life and find so many times when i totally surprised myself.

as for the water, one of my friends called me the dionysis of painters when i work abstractly since he was a patron of fluids and raw emotions.
